Seedy Grains

Stopping in at the local Riverwards Market, on my way to the studio, I picked up something to paint. The dreary cold and wet spring day had me focused on the warmth of good bread. I'm fortunate to live in a city with so many incredible bakers (happy sigh) and my favorite baker in my neighborhood is especially wonderful. Alex Bois is, in my opinion, the baking boy genius! Alex was a James Beard Foundation's finalist two years in a row while at High Street, in Philly, which is such an incredible bread source and I painted his Adanama loaf from there. Now he's got his own baking company going and I figured I should paint a new loaf because I live off of Lost Bread all year long.

This is a half of the Seedy Grains loaf which was fun to focus on the beautiful crust covered with medley of flax, sesame, sunflower, and pumpkin seeds. This one was fun but with the size being so much bigger, it took over 12 hrs to paint this. Then it was another few days before I could look at it and see it for what it is, something I really am happy about.
