Cloud Nine

oil on wood, 10x10"

Cloud Nine, original artwork by Mike Geno

From the Cheese Portraits series.

Yellow Springs Farm, just outside of Philadelphia, makes some wonderful cheeses. I've been to the farm and met the owners as well as the goats. It's long overdue that I had a chance to paint one of their fine cheeses. This little gift of goat cheese heaven is something I had my eye on, since Madame Fromage first introduced it to me.

Here's what she writes about it : "Cloud Nine. The rumpled rind on this little bath bomb conceals a dense center of grassy goat cheese the consistency of marzipan. The smell is earthy and grassy, the taste sweetly tangy with just a hint of black pepper emanating from the rind."
